He obtained fellowships of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Glasgow in 2001. He then completed Higher Surgical Training in Orthopaedics in Manchester, and underwent intensive sub-specialist training in hip and knee replacement and revision surgery at Wrightington Hospital. He regularly visits internationally-recognised centres of hip and knee surgery, as well as national and international conferences to keep abreast of the latest advances in hip surgery.
Mr Bonshahi has a strong research background and is heavily involved in orthopaedic education. He has authored several papers in respected orthopaedic journals, contributed chapters to orthopaedic textbooks, and has lectured at national and international orthopaedic meetings. He teaches on the MCh Orthopaedics Course at Wrightington Hospital and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Edge Hill University.
He is a Fellow of the British Orthopaedic Association and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and is a member of the British Hip Society. Mr Bonshahi’s routine clinical practice is focused on arthroplasty (total hip and knee replacements, partial knee replacements, complex primary and revision hip and knee replacements) and sports medicine (hip arthroscopy for labral tears, femoroacetabular impingement, and other conditions and arthroscopic knee procedures).
