About Anna Sharpe

Personal Profile

Anna graduated from Oxford Brookes University in 2003 and since qualifying as a Musculo-Skeletal Physiotherapist, she gained extensive experience working in a large NHS teaching hospital through Outpatients, Hydrotherapy, Rheumatology, Paediatrics and Orthopaedics before moving into Private Practice and managing musculoskeletal, orthopaedic and sporting injuries. She has furthered her studies developing her clinical assessment and manual therapy skills to achieve a post graduate diploma with the Society of Orthopaedic Medicine. She has just completed some Master’s level study critically evaluating an area of hip research and its application to practice.

Anna has worked in Private Practice over the last 15 years and during this time she has been responsible for managing acute injuries in a Practice treating a range of athletes and Professional Triathletes. Since joining the Mount Alvernia Physiotherapy team in 2009 she jointly ran a sports injury clinic in a gym and has had experience treating a local team of professional ice hockey players. She is currently part of the lower limb Physiotherapy team at Mount Alvernia.

Anna has a particular interest in lower limb injuries. Being a keen cyclist and runner she has experienced the difficulties that injuries bring. She believes in combining full biomechanical assessment with manual therapy and graded exercise prescription, to help individuals progress through their rehabilitation following injury or surgery to achieve their individual goals however big or small. She works hard to educate her patients about their injuries empowering them to stay well so that they can enjoy the activities they love and avoid injury in the future.
