Personal Profile
He grew up in London and Glasgow and obtained his medical degree from the University of Edinburgh and his PhD from the University of Leicester. He spent a year at the CK Hui Heart centre in Edmonton, Canada where he obtained a fellowship in complex coronary intervention. Dr Vanezis has published widely in the field of ischaemic conditioning and has designed and run clinical trials. His research profile can be found at www.researchgate.net/profile/Andrew-Vanezis. He is currently the principle investigator in Nottingham for the international clinical research trial SELUTION-DENOVO.
He has a passion for medical education and training the next generation of doctors as well as allied healthcare professionals. He has recently developed a simulation programme within the catheter labs in Nottingham to improve team working and clinical skills for all staff which has received excellent feedback.In addition, he is a faculty member of the Academy of Forensic Medical Sciences (AFMS) and an Advance Life Support (ALS) instructor.
He is married to a busy local GP. He is a keen gardener and enjoys playing and watching various sports. He is also an avid reader and enjoys travelling and cooking.
