Andrew David Stewart Personal Profile

Dr Andrew Stewart is a Consultant Cardiologist, with a special interest in coronary intervention (also known as angioplasty and stenting).

Dr Stewart completed his undergraduate training at Aberdeen University. Subsequently he completed his medical rotation in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, during which time he completed his professional postgraduate exams to become a Member of the Royal College of Physicians. He then successfully obtained a post as a Research Registrar at Kings College, London for 3 years, during which time he completed a PhD in the area of cardiovascular medicine. He then chose to return to Aberdeen to complete his specialist training in Cardiology. During this time, he managed to secure a 12 month Interventional Fellowship in Nova Scotia, Canada, where he was able to further develop his skills in coronary intervention. He then returned to the North-East of Scotland to take up his current NHS job as a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist based in Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

As well as being part of the busy clinical department at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, he is also actively involved in training of both medical students and trainee doctors in the department.
