About Dr Andreas Polychronis

Personal Profile

Dr Andy Polychronis qualified from University of Wales College of Medicine in 1995 and obtained MRCP in 1998.

In 2007 he obtained a PhD from Imperial College researching in the field of growth factor signalling pathways in cancer. He completed training in medical oncology at pan-Thames rotation and was appointed Consultant Medical Oncologist at the Mount Vernon Cancer Centre in 2008.

He specialises in the treatment of thoracic and gastrointestinal cancers including unknown primary and acute oncology. Dr Polychronis works within several multidisciplinary teams (lung, colorectal and upper GI) and ensures all private patients benefit from specialist discussions within these groups (including thoracic surgeons, hepatobiliary surgeons, colorectal surgeons, clinical oncologists, gastroenterologists, respiratory physicians, histopathologists, radiologists and clinical nurse specialists).

He is an active clinical researcher and acts as chief national and local principal investigator on a range of clinical trials within the national portfolio as well as being involved in phase II/III clinical trials of novel therapeutic agents. He is also an advisor to pharmaceutical companies on relevant cancer strategies.
