About Mr Amr Gehad

Personal Profile

I am a Consultant Gynaecologist and the clinical lead for gynaecology at Homerton Hospital; the hospital renowned for outstanding care in the latest CQC report. I have more than 22 years of experience in obstetrics and gynaecology gained from immensely heavy challenging workload in Egypt and the UK. I completed my specialty training in some of the busiest hospitals in Egypt to become a specialist in obstetrics, gynaecology and urogynaecology.

I am also an Associate Lecturer at Anglia Ruskin School of Medicine. I also hold the title Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer in the Institute of Health Sciences Education, Queen Mary University of London.

Clinical Interests

My broad combined training and experience enabled me in managing benign gynaecological conditions with specialisation in management of pelvic floor disorders including but not limited to prolapse, urinary incontinence and sexual dysfunction.

I also manage fibroids via advanced endoscopic (Laparoscopy and Hysteroscopy) and abdominal surgery. In addition, I perform laparoscopic surgery for various indications including managing ovarian cysts, hysterectomy and mild to moderate endometriosis.

I also manage menstrual disturbances including endometrial ablation and menopausal symptoms.

Over my years of experience, I performed more than 1,000 hysteroscopy procedures, hundreds of hysterectomies and thousands of open surgeries. I have also done hundreds of laparoscopic surgeries. Because of my expertise in urogynaecology, I have managed hundreds of vaginal surgeries and urinary incontinence procedures
