About Mr Amit Patel

Personal Profile

Mr Amit Patel is a Consultant Laparoscopic General and Colorectal Surgeon whose main practice is based at Droitwich Spa Hospital. He also works within Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and provides specialist care in laparoscopic general surgery, colorectal surgery, and pelvic floor disorders.

He was appointed as a Consultant in 2014 following specialist training in coloproctology, surgical oncology, and general surgery in London.

Mr Patel graduated with honours from St George’s, University of London, where he also received undergraduate prizes. He went on to complete postgraduate surgical training in London, including two years of research at University College London Department of Surgery, achieving a Master’s degree. He maintains a strong academic profile and has published extensively in peer-reviewed surgical journals.

His advanced training included a laparoscopic colorectal fellowship at the world-renowned St Mark’s Hospital under Professor Robin Kennedy. During this time, he gained extensive experience managing complex tertiary colorectal referrals from across the UK.

Since becoming a Consultant, Mr Patel has introduced and developed key services in Worcestershire, including day-case laparoscopic surgery and minimally invasive coloproctology techniques, particularly day-case haemorrhoid surgery. He has also established a specialist pelvic floor service offering laparoscopic prolapse surgery and expert management of faecal incontinence and obstructive defecatory disorders—services that were previously unavailable locally.

Mr Patel’s clinical focus is on minimally invasive laparoscopic general and colorectal surgery, with an emphasis on improving recovery times, reducing post-operative discomfort, and enhancing patient outcomes.

Patient Feedback

"For years I had been putting off having my haemorrhoid discomfort addressed due to a fear of an excruciating procedure and long recovery time. When I did finally pluck up the courage, I chose Mr Patel based on his expertise in this field and his enthusiasm for non-traditional techniques. My faith was rewarded following THD surgery, from which I experienced only a couple of days discomfort; manageable with over the counter pain killers. Within a fortnight of rest I was back to normal, 100% cured, and left wondering why I had left it so long in the first place. Would absolutely recommend Mr Patel for anyone else suffering the same issues as I was." Stephen C.
