About Mr Amit Amin

Personal Profile

Personal Profile

London born and bred Amit decided to undertake medical school training away from home and qualified in 1999 from the University of Manchester. Having spent 5 years at medical school and another 18 months working as a junior doctor in Manchester, Amit decided it was time to move back home and undertook his Higher Surgical Training on the North East Thames London (Percivall Pott) rotation. This involved rotating through some of London’s most prestigious hospitals, including Great Ormond St, The Royal London and The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital. He was awarded the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery in 2011.

Amit has sub-specialised in all aspects of Foot and Ankle Surgery, undertaking fellowships both at home and abroad. He worked as a senior trainee on the specialist Foot and Ankle unit at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. Thereafter, Amit decided to travel to Internationally renowned centres to broaden his horizons and along the way gained invaluable clinical experience and developed life-long friendships.

The first International stop was undertaken in Seattle, USA at Harborview Medical Center with Professor Sigvard Hansen. This was followed by a British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society travelling fellowship to Baltimore, USA working with the world-renowned Dr Mark Myerson.

Amit completed his specialist Foot and Ankle Surgery training by spending a full year in Toronto, Canada with Dr Tim Daniels.

Amit was appointed in 2011 to St George’s Hospital – a Teaching Hospital and Major Trauma Centre.

To balance work and life, and to spend more time with his young family, Amit decided to leave the NHS in 2017, and is now in full time private practice.

Amit has always been involved and interested in research, and has published over 20 peer-reviewed articles in the medical literature. He currently reviews articles for the British Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery.

Amit adopts a pragmatic and careful approach to clinical decision-making, working closely with physiotherapists, osteopaths, podiatrists and sports medicine colleagues to offer a holistic approach to the treatment of foot and ankle problems. Whilst offering a comprehensive foot and ankle service, Amit in particular enjoys treating sports injuries.
