About Dr Amarjit Sethi

Personal Profile

Dr Sethi was appointed as consultant cardiologist at Ealing Hospital and Imperial College NHS Trust, Hammersmith Hospital in 2003. He performs coronary angiography and coronary angioplasty by both femoral and radial routes, and insertion of permanent pacemakers at Ealing Hospital and at the Hammersmith Hospital. He also treats patients with acute heart attacks at the Hammersmith Hospital as part of the primary angioplasty service. Dr Sethi has a special interest in CT coronary angiography allowing imaging of coronary artery disease non-invasively. He performs this at Ealing Hospital where he set up the service and Syon Clinic.

In 2013 Dr Sethi was appointed as member of the National Clinical Reference Group for complex invasive cardiology which advises NHS England ensuring service specifications and commissioning policies in cardiology are delivered to a high standard for good patient care nationally.

Dr Sethi’s medical studies were at the United Medical and Dental schools of Guy's and St. Thomas' where he qualified in 1992 with BSc. Hons in immunology and prizes in medicine, pharmacology and immunology. His training included the Royal Brompton Hospital, London Chest Hospital and St. Bartholomew’s Hospital.

He has completed a masters of business administration in 2002, achieving merit in strategy and creativity, innovation and change.

Dr Sethi’s PhD thesis was on the mechanisms and modulation of vascular cell dysfunction at the William Harvey Research Institute, Queen Mary University of London 2003. This research has been published and presented at the American Heart Association’s Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology meeting and the European Society of Cardiology. Dr Sethi’s current research interests are in acute coronary syndromes presented at the European Society of Cardiology and recent publications on physiological assessment of coronary artery disease.
