Personal Profile

Consultant Cardiologist, Dr Mistry, is based at the Trent Cardiac Centre (Nottingham University Hospitals Trust), East Midlands.

As a well-versed Cardiologist, he is experienced in a wide range of cardiovascular conditions that encompasses the investigation and management of palpitations, breathlessness, chest pain, dizzy spells, blackouts, swollen ankles and high blood pressure.

Specialising in Heart Rhythm and Heart Failure management, Dr Mistry performs over 200 procedures per year (pacemakers, defibrillators, cardiac resynchronisation therapy, loop recorder). He also has an interest in more advanced device therapy including conduction system pacing, leadless pacing and subcutaneous defibrillators. He has both International and European certification in cardiac devices where he scored in the highest 5th-centile.

Dr Mistry obtained his undergraduate medical degree from the University of Birmingham and has been a doctor for 15 years. He started his cardiology training in 2012 at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester and has spent dedicated time in the research field where he presented at numerous national and international conferences, published peer-reviewed articles in medical journals and supported clinical trials. Having completed his cardiology training in 2021, he was appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist at Nottingham University Hospitals Trust where he continues to deliver high quality, patient-centred care.

In addition to his clinical role, Dr Mistry is also the Cardiology Junior Doctor Lead providing education and pastoral support to less experienced junior doctor colleagues as well as allied healthcare professionals.

Outside of clinical work, he is a very active gym-goer, cyclist and hiker (looking for the next mountain to ascend).

Clinical Interests

Dr Mistry has a wealth of experience in managing general cardiology which includes the investigation and management of palpitations, breathlessness, chest pain, dizzy spells, blackouts, swollen ankles and high blood pressure. He has a specific interest in the management of heart rhythm disorders and heart failure. In particular, he is able to offer complex cardiovascular device implantation including pacemakers, cardiac defibrillators and cardiac resynchronisation therapy (biventricular pacing).
