Mr Altaf Khattak is a highly experienced Consultant Urologist and one of the leading specialists in the region for complex pelvic and laparoscopic renal surgery. He graduated from Peshawar in Pakistan before completing his comprehensive urological training in Liverpool, where he developed advanced skills in managing major urological conditions and performing minimally invasive procedures. 

Mr Khattak’s main areas of clinical interest include muscle-invasive bladder cancer and laparoscopic renal surgery. He is widely recognised for his expertise in complex pelvic cancer operations and advanced laparoscopic techniques, offering patients the benefits of precision surgery, reduced recovery times and improved outcomes. His commitment to excellence ensures that patients receive the highest standard of care using the latest evidence-based approaches. 

As Lead Clinician for laparoscopic urological surgery at Whiston Hospital, Mr Khattak plays a pivotal role in developing and delivering specialist services across the region. He is a core member and lead for the local multidisciplinary team (MDT) and regional specialist MDT meetings for urological cancer, ensuring collaborative decision-making and optimal treatment planning for patients with complex conditions. In addition to his work at Whiston, Mr Khattak performs operative sessions and runs clinics at the Royal Liverpool & Broadgreen University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, where he undertakes major pelvic cancer cases. 

Mr Khattak’s patient-centred approach combines clinical expertise with compassionate care, ensuring that every individual receives tailored treatment designed to achieve the best possible outcome.
