About Dr Alison Honan

Personal Profile

Dr Honan graduated from the University of Edinburgh Medical School in 2008 and then secured a competitive dermatology training post in the West of Scotland in 2012. She was appointed as a Consultant Dermatologist in NHS Ayrshire and Arran in 2019 where she sees both adult and paediatric patients with a broad range of acute and chronic skin conditions.

Dr Honan has presented at a number of national and international meetings, been involved in research and is a published author. She is currently on the executive committee of the Scottish Dermatological Society as well as being a member of the British Association of Dermatologists and British Society of Medical Dermatology. She has recently been Clinical Lead and then Clinical Director for Dermatology in NHS Ayrshire and Arran. She is involved in the training of future dermatologists through the West of Scotland training programme. She undertakes a skin cancer screening clinic weekly alongside diagnosing and managing a variety of other skin conditions. Dr Honan is passionate about helping patients access timely dermatology expertise and care.

Please be advised, Dr Honan does not carry out any minor procedures/surgery at Ross Hall Clinic Braehead. Those patients requiring the removal of skin lesions, as well as skin grafts and biopsies, should book their initial consultation with an alternative Consultant Dermatologist. 

Please also note Dr Honan does not practice cosmetic dermatology.
