Alice qualified with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy in 1997 and gained extensive experience working in the core areas of Physiotherapy in London for 2 years before specialising in Musculoskeletal Out-Patients. She worked as a Senior Physiotherapist at St George’s Hospital, The Royal Free Hospital and Central Middlesex Hospital until 2007 in the areas of Musculoskeletal, Orthopaedics and Rheumatology gaining further in-depth clinical knowledge from internal and external training courses. She ran a range of lower limb and spinal exercise classes, hydrotherapy and further developed her role in managing teams and teaching students. In addition she helped manage a private physiotherapy service and travelled and worked as a physiotherapist in Australia for a year.
She began working as a Team Leader Musculoskeletal Out-Patient Physiotherapist in Surrey in 2007 for Surrey PCT and Virgincare at Haslemere Hospital and Farnham Hospital where her job included clinical and managerial roles, before she joined the Mount Alvernia physiotherapy team in March 2017.
Alice enjoys the challenge of treating a variety of conditions and she has a special interest in treating upper limb conditions, particularly shoulder conditions. She understands the importance of thorough assessment and listening to patients to fully understand their concerns and expectations and gain a detailed picture of their clinical presentation. She enjoys progressing patients through their rehabilitation using manual therapy, and a range of different exercises tailored to the patient, and ensures she supports patients with advice and information to aid their recovery. She is dedicated to working with her patients to create a rehabilitation programme that inspires and motivates them to achieving their goals.
She also has an interest in and experience in treating a range of elbow and hand conditions and can make thermoplastic hand splints. Alice has run our evidence based Total Knee Replacement Class and utilises the excellent gym facilities here at Mount Alvernia in her rehabilitation programmes. She also has an in interest in Long Covid and has been involved with training and setting up assessment and treatment frameworks for managing this condition. She understands the importance of listening to the patient to fully understand their symptoms, and working together with the patient to progress through their recovery.
Alice uses the best current evidence along with her extensive clinical experience to equip her patients to reach their goals. She lives in Guildford with her husband and two sons and regularly enjoys running, HIIT workouts and walking.
