She has travelled widely and used her physiotherapy in several African countries, working in rehabilitation with sufferers of polio, spinal cord injuries, orthopaedics and musculoskeletal injuries. Her first overseas work was in a rehabilitation centre in Sierra Leone, concentrating on orthopaedics and paediatrics, before serving as a physiotherapist for a charitable football team as they toured Senegal.
Most recently she has worked in North Africa, again in a rehabilitation centre focussing upon orthopaedics. Her experience has broadened and enhanced further as a locum in the NHS and she joined the Harbour Physiotherapy Team in 2010.
In her 10+ years of experience at the Harbour Hospital, Ali has worked with a wide variety of patients and treatments. She frequently sees patients rehabbing from sports injuries, where Ali is trained to deliver Shockwave therapy and also regularly sees those with muscle and joint pain. She also has extensive experience working with those requiring post-operative rehabilitation, for example after a knee or hip replacement. Ali is also experienced in brace fitting for arthrtis and joint instability.
Beyond physiotherapy, Ali is an APPI trained Pilates Instructor and has been teaching classes since 2006 and has also done further training to teach both ante and post-natal classes.
Outside of work, Ali likes to keep active by running, going paddle boarding in Poole Harbour and also spends a lot of her time running round after her 2 young children.
