About Alex Dinneen

Personal Profile

Mr Alex Dinneen is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in surgery of the foot and ankle. He has extensive experience in managing all aspects of foot and ankle problems including deformity, arthritis, sports injuries and acute fractures. 

Training and Appointment

 Alex graduated from Guys & St Thomas’ Medical School in 2003 and completed his specialist training on the London South West Thames Orthopaedic training rotation. He has experience from working overseas both in New Zealand and Australia. 

He undertook an extensive, high-level Fellowship with the world-renowned Perth Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (POSM) group in Western Australia in 2014 and subsequently worked in Brighton and Surrey alongside three past presidents of the British Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society.

In 2016, Alex returned to Surrey after being appointed as Consultant at Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford. 

Current Practice

Mr Dinneen is the lead Foot and Ankle Trauma Specialist at Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford and manages the majority of complex fracture cases, often following referrals from colleagues and other Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeons. 

In his private practice, he offers a bespoke ‘patient-focused’ multidisciplinary approach, working closely with specialist therapists and clinicians. 

His practice is underpinned by a comprehensive understanding of biomechanics which helps to ensure optimal outcomes for his patients. 

Mr Dinneen performs:

  • Joint preserving bunion and toe correction surgery 
  • Comprehensive toe, foot and ankle arthritis surgery
  • Keyhole surgery for sports-related injuries and other conditions
  • Ankle ligament repair and reconstructive surgery
  • Achilles tendon repair surgery 
  • Complex foot and ankle fracture surgery for acute injuries.  

Training

Mr Dinneen is actively involved in education both locally and nationally and helps coordinate the South London, Kent, Surrey & Sussex registrar teaching programme to train the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons.
