He began his journey at Edinburgh Dental Hospital, where he qualified in 1985, and went on to earn the prestigious Dean’s Medal at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Here, he also became a Fellow in Dental Surgery and specialised in Oral Medicine and Oral Surgery.
Alan furthered his medical education at Southampton Medical School, where he graduated with First Class Honours in 1993. He later became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1997 and earned his Fellowship in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery in 2001.
