About Mr Akshay Mehra

Personal Profile

Mr Akshay Mehra completed his medical degree from Agra Medical School, India in 1996. After moving to UK in 1999, he trained in general surgical specialities and passed his membership of Royal College of Surgeons in 2002.

He joined the higher surgical training programme in Birmingham in 2005, attaining his fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons in Trauma and Orthopaedics in 2009. He completed his training in 2011 and then went on to do a one year fellowship in hip and knee surgery at Leicester General Hospital, UK. He gained a further six months experience in hip and knee reconstructive surgery as a fellow at the St Michael’s Hospital in Toronto.

He was appointed a full time consultant at The Alexandra Hospital, Redditch in 2013.

Mr Akshay Mehra is a keen reseacher and has published extensively in peer reviewed journals. He has also written a chapter on hip surgery. He has presented his work both nationally and internationally and teaches on the Birmingham training programme.

Outside his work commitments he enjoys spending time with his family and playing badminton.
