Dr Kapoor has trained extensively in renowned academic institutions in India and Canada. After graduating with honours from Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, he completed his residency in Paediatrics from lady Harding Medical College, New Delhi, when he was awarded the best resident award.
Dr Kapoor subsequently trained in Gastroenterology and subspecialised in Paediatric Inflammatory Bowel disease, at the world-renowned SickKids in Toronto, Canada.
Dr Kapoor has been a consultant for 15 years, the last 3 years of which have been in Sheffield. He leads the Inflammatory Bowel Disease Service which looks after 350 patients from Sheffield and beyond. His special expertise is in difficult to treat IBD, second opinions and newer therapies. In addition, he routinely provides care for children with abdominal pain, irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, Coeliac disease, food allergies and bleeding in stools.
Dr Kapoor has authored more than 35 peer reviewed articles in International Journals and has co-authored the Textbook of Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. He is the Principal Investigator for multiple international trials and lectures extensively in national and international conferences.
Dr Kapoor is a JAG certified endoscopist with expertise in Upper GI Endoscopy, Colonoscopy, Foreign body removal, polypectomy and variceal banding. He routinely teaches trainee gastroenterologists and endoscopists. He is a clinical and educational supervisor for trainees at the Sheffield Children’s Hospital. Dr Kapoor has received The International Pediatric Transplant Association award for best scientific paper in 2012 and 2013 and the World Congress of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition Award for Best Young Investigator in 2012. He has also received the Young Investigator award in 2015 and 2019.
