About Akhtar Zaman

Personal Profile

Dr Akhtar Zaman is a highly experienced and dedicated NHS General Practitioner based in Buckinghamshire. He qualified as a medical doctor in 2012 after completing his medical degree at St George’s University of London. Following graduation, Dr Zaman undertook his foundation and specialty GP training across the South Coast of England, gaining broad clinical experience through rotations in cardiology, respiratory medicine, paediatrics, psychiatry, obstetrics and gynaecology, and general internal medicine.

With over a decade of clinical experience, Dr Zaman has cared for more than 20,000 patients over the past five years alone. He is well known for his compassionate, patient-centred approach, as well as his meticulous attention to clinical detail. His patients and colleagues alike value his ability to listen, communicate clearly, and provide holistic, evidence-based care.

Dr Zaman has particular expertise in managing a wide range of long-term and complex conditions. His areas of clinical interest include chronic disease management—such as hypertension, COPD, asthma, and type 2 diabetes—as well as mental health, including depression, anxiety, and stress-related disorders. He is also experienced in paediatrics, addressing common childhood illnesses, infections, and sleep-related concerns, and has a strong focus on elderly care, with an emphasis on managing multi-morbidity, polypharmacy, and regular medication reviews.

In addition to his core work in general practice, Dr Zaman has also worked in urgent care centres and hospital-based settings, where he has managed a wide range of acute and complex medical presentations. His adaptability and calm demeanour make him especially effective in high-pressure environments.

Dr Zaman’s professional portfolio also includes work in the medico-legal field, particularly in the assessment of patients following road traffic accidents.  He approaches these assessments carefully and objectively, providing clear clinical reports to support patient care.

One of the more unique highlights of Dr Zaman’s career includes serving as a visiting physician for WWE Superstars during their UK tours. This role required not only clinical skill but discretion, flexibility, and the ability to work within high-profile, fast-moving environments—qualities that Dr Zaman consistently demonstrates in all areas of his practice.

Committed to providing seamless care, Dr Zaman values open communication and collaborative working relationships with specialists and allied health professionals, ensuring his patients receive well-coordinated and comprehensive care pathways.

Outside of medicine, Dr Zaman enjoys spending quality time with his young family. His interests also include staying active and exploring ways to promote wellbeing both within and beyond the clinic setting.
