About Dr Ajay Yerramasu

Personal Profile

Dr Ajay Yerramasu is a highly experienced and internationally trained consultant cardiologist with expertise spanning all aspects of general and specialist cardiology. He brings a wealth of clinical knowledge, a strong academic foundation, and a genuine commitment to patient-centred care to his practice at Kings Park Hospital.

Dr Yerramasu completed his undergraduate medical education in India before undertaking postgraduate medical training in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He subsequently pursued a fellowship in cardiac imaging in Washington DC, USA, gaining advanced expertise in non-invasive cardiac diagnostics. He further broadened his clinical research experience at Wellington Hospital, London, before completing his specialist cardiology training at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. He was appointed as an NHS consultant cardiologist in 2016 and has since built a distinguished career in both NHS and independent practice, currently holding a substantive consultant post at NHS Forth Valley.

He is experienced in the full breadth of general cardiology and welcomes referrals for the assessment of chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, dizziness, and blackouts. He also offers the flexibility for patients to self-refer, allowing timely access to specialist cardiology assessment without the need for a GP referral letter. His clinical interests lie in cardiac imaging and cardiac rhythm management, including pacing. He has extensive experience in the interpretation and application of advanced diagnostic modalities such as electrocardiography (ECG), ambulatory ECG monitoring, echocardiography, CT coronary angiography and Cardiac MRI scans.

A key strength of Dr Yerramasu’s practice is his ability to provide a streamlined and efficient diagnostic service. Patients attending his clinic benefit from access to a wide range of cardiac investigations — including 12-lead ECG, echocardiogram, ambulatory ECG monitoring, and CT coronary angiography — which can often be performed on the same day as the initial consultation. Results are reviewed and communicated to patients during their appointment, allowing for prompt diagnosis and early initiation of appropriate management.

Dr Yerramasu adopts a compassionate, patient-focused approach, taking time to understand individual concerns and tailoring investigations and treatment plans accordingly. He combines clear communication with evidence-based practice to ensure that patients are fully informed and actively involved in decisions about their care.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Yerramasu has a strong academic background with multiple publications in peer-reviewed international journals. His research has focused on cardiac CT, coronary artery disease, and cardiovascular risk stratification, epicardial fat and atherosclerosis progression, and radiation dose optimisation in CT coronary angiography. He has also contributed to a recognised textbook in the field of nuclear cardiology. His academic work reflects a sustained commitment to advancing evidence-based cardiology and improving patient outcomes.
