Mr Samad graduated in 1996 from Trivandrum Medical College in, India and then completed his basic surgical training in South Wales and research fellowship in Birmingham. Following this he joined the higher surgical training program in Liverpool with a special interest in Colorectal Surgery. After completing the specialist training he spent 18 months as a laparoscopic (key hole) fellow in Perth, Western Australia. On his return to the UK in 2010 I was appointed as a Consultant Colorectal and Laparoscopic surgeon in St Helens & Knowsley NHS trusts.
Mr Samad has special interest in bowel cancer and inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohns disease and Ulcerative Colitis. He also perform a large number of gallbladder and hernia operations. Since my appointment as a Consultant I have performed more than 1000 major bowel resections and provide both Gastroscopy and Colonoscopy services.
Currently he performs more than 80 Robotic/laparoscopic colorectal operations and over 100 laparoscopic cholecystectomy (removal of gallbladder) in a year. Mr Samad also offer the latest treatments for piles, anal fistulae and pilonidal sinus i.e. Trans-anal Haemorrhoidal Dearterialisation (THD) the so called ‘painless piles operation’,
Mr Samad is the lead clinician for colorectal cancer services in Mersey & West Lancashire NHS Trust trust and am the lead for the Robotic Surgery program for this trust. He performs the highest number of bowel cancer operations in Cheshire & Merseyside and the outcome for the cancer resection I have performed is published in the ACPGBI website.
