His journey began with medical and cardiology training in West Midlands and Northwest England. A pivotal period as a British Heart Foundation Fellow in Scotland led to uncovering innovative methods for early heart disease detection. His work earned the prestigious first prize from the Scottish Society of Physicians in 2010 and was published in leading international journals, notably the Journal of the American College of Cardiology. In recognition, he received his doctorate in 2011 for his thesis.
His pursuit of excellence continued with an advanced fellowship in interventional and structural cardiology at the renowned Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, consistently ranked among the top 10 best hospitals in the US. During this time, he honed expertise in performing minimally invasive heart valve repair and replacement procedures, including TAVI and MitraClip, revolutionising treatment approaches.
Returning to the UK, Dr. Nadir assumed the role of consultant interventional cardiologist at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham in 2017. Notably, he spearheaded the transcatheter heart valve program, offering selected patients’ treatment without surgery, marking a significant stride in patient care.
His comprehensive approach encompasses managing various heart conditions with a strong emphasis on prevention. Dr. Nadir specialises in addressing chest pains, palpitations, breathlessness, dizziness, heart valve disease, angina, heart failure, and optimizing heart conditions pre-major surgery.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Nadir is dedicated to education. He leads educational initiatives within the cardiology department at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and holds an honorary senior lecturer position at the University of Birmingham. His passion for teaching extends globally, having mentored medical students and cardiologists worldwide, fostering knowledge exchange and skill development.
An advocate for patient empowerment, Dr. Nadir excels in simplifying complex medical concepts, facilitating informed decision-making through accessible information technology. He prioritizes building trust, effective communication, and continuity of care, believing in a collaborative partnership with patients for optimal outcomes.
Outside medicine, Dr. Nadir cherishes moments with his family, indulging in hobbies like cycling, skiing, and nurturing his garden.
