Mr Achyuth Menon is a Consultant Laparoscopic Colorectal and General surgeon. He did his surgical training in India, followed by specialist training in UK. The specialist surgical rotation was in the West Midlands Deanery where he worked in 7 centres under numerous consultants before doing a Laparoscopic Colorectal Fellowship at Bristol. He was appointed as a Laparoscopic Colorectal and General Surgeon in 2007.

As an NHS consultant Mr Menon has held several high-profile management roles. He was the Clinical Governance Lead soon after appointment followed on by Service Director for General Surgery, Breast and Urology. Mr Menon then took up the post of Clinical Chair for the whole Surgical division which included all the Clinical Surgical specialities, Critical care, Anaesthesia, Theatres, CSSD, Pain team, Podiatry. This was a huge portfolio which he did for almost 4 years during the covid pandemic while continuing to work in his role as a full-time cancer clinician. Mr Menon has been involved in the management journey of Sherwood Forest NHS trust going from ‘needing improvement’ to winning the HSJ award for the ‘best acute NHS trust in England’ in 2021. He is currently the colorectal cancer lead and the Trust deputy cancer lead.

During his training years he has published extensively in peer reviewed journals, presented at international meetings and as a consultant has mentored numerous juniors with academic presentations and publications.

Mr Menon is a very competent and proficient endoscopist with excellent peer reviewed outcomes. He is an accredited endoscopy trainer and has been a faculty member at the East Midlands endoscopy training centre at Kingsmill Hospital.

Mr Menon specialises in Proctology and offers treatment for all the common anal canal problems including piles,fissures,fistulas,itchy bottoms, incontinence, pilonidal sinuses and prolapse. He can offer different procedures for the treatment of haemorrhoids including haemorrhoidal artery ligation + mucopexy, stapled haemorrhoidectomy, banding or open haemorrhoidectomy.

As a competent laparoscopic surgeon, he offers laparoscopic and open surgery for all hernias other than hiatus hernia.

He has done over 4000 colonoscopies and performs complex polypectomies with no complications to date.

As a cancer surgeon Mr Menon has performed over 800 cancer operations mostly laparoscopically with excellent outcomes which are published on the ASBGI website.
