About Miss Abigail Lamyman

Personal Profile

Miss Lamyman studied medicine at The University of Nottingham and qualified in 2002. Her postgraduate training was in Oxford and she obtained membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2005.

After completing her degree, Miss Lamyman went on to do Specialist Registrar training in Oxford and then gained Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (ORL-HNS) in 2011. Subsequently, she undertook the Oxford Rhinology Fellowship and was appointed as a Consultant in 2014, practicing at both Buckinghamshire and Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trusts.

As part of her NHS practice, Miss Lamyman enjoys teaching medical students and training junior ENT doctors and fellows. She is the Education Lead for ENT in Buckinghamshire NHS Trust and also sits on the specialty registrar training panel for the Oxford region. This includes formal teaching such as lectures, dissection courses and exam preparation courses for the Fellowship of The Royal College of Surgeons.

Miss Lamyman is the current Clinical Lead for ENT in Buckinghamshire NHS Trust, a role that she finds equally challenging and stimulating. Furthermore, she is the Audit Lead for ENT, organising and supervising projects to continually assess and improve care for patients.

Clinical Interests

Miss Lamyman has a general ENT practice as well as subspecialty interests in problems of the nose and sinuses and voice problems. This includes endoscopic sinus surgery, rhinoplasty surgery and joint clinics run with a speech and language therapist.

Assessment in the outpatient clinic comprises a flexible nasendoscopy to examine the nose and throat in detail as well as arranging onward investigations such as allergy testing and radiological imaging.

She has a keen interest in both open and closed approach septorhinoplasty, functional endoscopic sinus surgery for rhinosinusitis and the treatment of allergy in the nose. Miss Lamyman also undertakes image-guided sinus surgery where appropriate and local anaesthetic procedures where possible.

Miss Lamyman works alongside ophthalmic surgeons to operate on cases of watering eyes or epiphora with a dacryocystorhinostomy procedure in both adults and children.
