Dr Aamir Ali is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist with a specialist focus in coronary intervention, structural heart disease, and cardiac MRI. He currently practises at Northwick Park and Ealing Hospitals in the NHS and sees private patients at Syon Clinic in Brentford, West London.
He completed his undergraduate medical training at the University of Birmingham in 2004, having previously earned a BSc with Honours in Primary Healthcare and Clinical Research Methods from University College London. He holds full Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP UK) and passed the European Examination in General Cardiology in 2015.
Dr Ali trained in cardiology on the prestigious Northwest London Cardiology rotation, where he gained broad and in-depth experience across leading centres, including Harefield Hospital, Royal Brompton Hospital, and King’s College Hospital. His advanced fellowship in complex PCI and structural heart disease at King’s College Hospital allowed him to develop a high level of expertise in coronary intervention and transcatheter techniques, treating patients with complex coronary disease.
He further expanded his subspecialist skillset with a dedicated cardiac MRI fellowship at the Royal Brompton Hospital, one of the world’s foremost centres for cardiac imaging research and training. His dual expertise in interventional cardiology and advanced imaging allows him to offer a comprehensive and precision-based approach to diagnosis, risk stratification, and treatment planning.
Dr Ali is particularly skilled in the assessment and management of chest pain, coronary artery disease, cardiomyopathy, and unexplained breathlessness. He has a strong interest in preventive cardiology, working with patients to reduce long-term risk through personalised advice on lifestyle, screening, and treatment.
A strong advocate for patient-centred care, Dr Ali combines high-level technical ability with a holistic, communicative approach. He is known for taking the time to explain complex conditions clearly, and for working closely with patients to ensure their concerns, goals, and preferences are fully integrated into their care plan. As a born and bred Northwest Londoner, Dr Ali brings not only clinical expertise but also a deep understanding of the communities he serves. This regional connection informs the way he communicates and builds trust with patients from diverse backgrounds.
Dr Ali is also active in research and medical education. He is the Principal Investigator for multiple NIHR portfolio studies and is regularly involved in new trial feasibility reviews. He maintains up-to-date GCP certification, and his research interests span interventional cardiology, cardiac MRI, and translational imaging studies.
He is a PACES examiner for Imperial College London and a Clinical and Educational Supervisor for junior doctors at all training levels. He also leads the Cath Lab rota at London Northwest University Healthcare NHS Trust, playing a key role in service planning and clinical governance.
Outside of medicine, Dr Ali is a passionate photographer and scuba diver, with a special interest macro and portrait photography. He enjoys cooking and exploring new cultures through travel.
