Our Consultant Dermatologists at Woodlands Hospital offer regular private outpatient appointments to diagnose and treat most dermatological conditions.

These appointments give patients reassurance as they will be seen quickly by one of our specialists. They can also benefit from the peace of mind of having fast access to any further treatment, tests and results if required.

If further treatment is necessary following consultation, our facilities allow for procedures to be performed in our own theatres. For smaller procedures, we have a day-care unit where patients can receive treatment and go home the same day. Our dermatologists can also refer onward to our teams in other specialities, if required.

All dermatology consultations will begin with your consultant asking for a detailed medical history and a breakdown of the symptoms you have been experiencing.

They will most likely want to know:

  • What symptoms have you had?
  • How long have you had these symptoms?
  • Have you received any treatment for them before?
  • Have these symptoms been getting progressively worse?

Your consultant will then wish to perform a clinical examination of your symptoms. This will involve inspecting either your skin to asses the extent of any condition.

Certain scans may also be required to confirm a diagnosis and your consultant can use these results to help create a personalised treatment plan.

Non-invasive treatment can often be started on the same day, picking up any prescription medication from our on-site pharmacy. Surgical options will be presented to you with all the relevant information, and your consultant can outline all the risks and benefits of each procedure. This will enable you to make an informed decision on how best to proceed.
