Private GP services in Swindon

The Ridgeway Hospital offers fast access to private GP appointments for people across Swindon, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and the surrounding areas.

Please note that we do not provide paediatric services and are therefore unable to see or treat children or young people, under the age of 18, in this hospital.

The Ridgeway Hospital offers a private GP service within a modern and fully equipped hospital, allowing for fast access to specialised diagnostics including blood tests, X-rays and scans. Our test results are usually available within 48 hours and if needed your GP can make an immediate referral to consultants and specialists at the hospital.

The private GP service offers you more flexibility through convenient appointment times, subject to availability. With each new appointment time set at half hour, and follow up appointments set at fifteen minutes, you will have quality time to discuss your concerns in depth with one of our dedicated GPs.

Opening hours: Monday to Friday 8:00-20:00, Saturday Mornings 8:00-12:00.

Do I need to arrive early for my first GP appointment?

Yes. We kindly ask all patients attending their first private GP appointment to arrive 15 minutes before their scheduled time.
This allows sufficient time to complete our registration forms and ensures your appointment with the GP starts promptly and runs smoothly.

What is the purpose of a follow-up GP appointment?

Follow-up appointments are designed to review, progress, or manage the health concern discussed during your initial GP appointment.
These appointments are shorter (15 minutes) and focused, helping your GP provide safe and effective ongoing care for that specific issue.

Can I discuss a new or separate health issue during a follow-up appointment?

To ensure fairness and adequate time for all patients, follow-up appointments are intended for the original health matter only.

If you would like to discuss a new or separate health concern, we kindly ask that you book a separate 30‑minute GP consultation. This allows your GP the appropriate time to fully understand your concern, assess it thoroughly, and discuss treatment options with you.  We respectfully request that new health issues are not raised during follow-up consultations, as this can lead to delays for other patients.

If you're thinking about starting a weight loss injection and would like to speak with a GP in person, we’re here to help guide you through the process with care and expertise.

All of the private GPs listed below offer a comprehensive 30-minute initial consultation. This is your opportunity to openly discuss your health goals, ask any questions you may have, and explore whether this treatment is the right option for you. Your GP will take the time to understand your individual needs and work with you to make an informed decision.

Should you both decide to proceed, your GP can issue a prescription for the medication of your choice. You’ll then have the flexibility to collect it from our on-site hospital pharmacy or your preferred local pharmacy. The cost of the weight-loss injection prescribed during your GP consultation is not included in the appointment fee and will be charged separately.

Your health and confidence matter to us - let’s take the next step together.

Criteria for weight loss Injection

  • Tirzepatide; an initial BMI of at least 35kg/m2 and at least one weight related co-morbidity

For lower recorded body mass index measurements such as 25.0-29.9, a more detailed weight history, other adipose measurements, and considerations of pros versus cons will be considered in detail. We cannot guarantee that a prescription will be issued if the clinician feels that it is not clinically appropriate or safe.
