Steroid Injections
Steroid injections, also known as corticosteroid injections, are used to deliver anti-inflammatory medication directly into painful joints or soft tissues. This treatment helps reduce inflammation and alleviate pain in the affected area.
The relief provided by steroid injections can last from several weeks to a few months, depending on the individual and the condition being treated.
These injections are often effective in reducing swelling, stiffness, and discomfort caused by inflammation. By interrupting the cycle of pain and inflammation, they can support more effective rehabilitation and help patients return to their normal activities sooner.
Steroid injections are commonly recommended for individuals with overuse injuries or inflammatory conditions, especially when other physiotherapy approaches have not provided sufficient relief.
If it is not clear what is causing your pain, an injection can also be used to help aid the diagnosis. A local anaesthetic injection provides temporary pain relief to help locate where your pain is coming from.
