Your consultant works extremely closely with specialists in other fields, including plastic surgeons, dermatologists, ENT (Ear, Nose and Throat) surgeons, dentists and speech therapists to ensure you receive the best care possible.
When you visit us at The Park, you’ll benefit from treatment tailored to your specific requirements, access to state-of-the-art diagnostics, friendly staff who love their work and access to an experienced Consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon.
The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons at The Park provide the full spectrum of treatments within the speciality, including:
*One of the Oral and Maxillofacial Consultants working at The Park specialises in the management of temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders and diseases. He is the UK Lead for TMJ management and an expert adviser to NICE and NHS England.
Due to the complexity of many of the procedures carried out, most people will be referred to our Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons by their GP, dentist or another maxillofacial specialist from outside the region or a consultant in another speciality.
They will also carry out a clinical examination of the affected area(s).
You will usually have had dental X-rays carried out previously by your dentist and your consultant will normally have access to these for your appointment.
There are a number of further investigations that can be helpful for oral and maxillofacial problems, such as X-ray, CT or a TMJ arthroscopy, and these can all be easily arranged by your consultant when required. For example, some lesions in the mouth will require a biopsy to analyse.
Your clinical history, the results of the physical examination and the result from any investigations will be used to make a diagnosis. Your consultant will then plan the optimal treatment for you. Due to the complexity of many of the treatments for oral and maxillofacial conditions, your consultant may discuss treatment options within a multidisciplinary team with specialists like orthodontists or ENT surgeons.
From assessment and diagnosis through to treatment and aftercare, every aspect of your care will be discussed with you so that you know what to expect at all times. Your consultant will explain how your specific surgery will be done and what results you should expect to see as a result.
Any type of surgery involves risks and potential complications. Your consultant will discuss these with you in advance to ensure you can make an informed decision about any treatment. If you have any questions or concerns, they will be happy to talk about these with you.
People choose The Park for their Oral and Maxillofacial surgery for a number of reasons. Some will have been referred from their GP, dentist or other healthcare professional. We treat private insurance and self-pay patients.
Many of our patients are from Nottingham itself, while others travel to us from other areas such as Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, the West Midlands and the North East.
At The Park you will always benefit from:
