Expert treatment for eye and vision concerns
Your eyesight is very important and anything that causes you pain or affects your vision should be looked at by an ophthalmologist that can recommend a suitable treatment for you.
Our ophthalmologists see patients with a wide variety of symptoms and can treat all common eye conditions, including:
These symptoms may be caused by any one of a number of eye conditions, including:
This is not an exhaustive list, so if you don’t see your condition listed, you can still book in with one of our consultant ophthalmologists.
Cataract surgery is now one of the most common procedures in the UK. Cataracts can cause the lens in your eye to become cloudy and through surgery this can be completely replaced with a new, clear lens.
There are two main types of lens surgery; phakic intraocular lens (PIOL) surgery and refractive lens exchange (RLE). PIOL implantation is when an artificial lens is placed in your eye without removing your lens. Refractive lens exchange is when your lens is removed and replaced with a new, artificial one.
Glaucoma is a common eye condition where the optic nerve, which connects the eye to the brain, becomes damaged or weak. This can lead to sight loss, if it is not diagnosed and treated early.
Symptoms of glaucoma include: blurry vision, nausea and pain in the eye.
Your treatment will depend on the severity of your glaucoma may be recommended medicated eye drops, tablets or in some cases surgery.
If you are concerned about the symptoms of glaucoma our experienced ophthalmologists, at The Highfield Hospital, can provide you with a diagnosis and advice on a suitable treatment.
Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) is performed here at The Highfield Hospital. The procedure removes excess skin or fat from the eyelid to improve hooded eyelids.
Retinal disorders can affect your eyesight. Our experienced ophthalmologists will be able to diagnose and recommend a suitable treatment plan. In some cases, the ophthalmologist may suggest Retinal Laser Treatment. This corrects your vision and reattaches the retina.
Retinal diseases may include: diabetic eye disease, retinal detachment, Retinoblastoma (cancer) or floaters.
