General radiography
Our dedicated X-ray room deals with all basic X-ray procedures, including orthopaedic and radiography. All images taken are scanned and stored on our Central Picture Archiving & Communication System (PACS). CDs are no longer available; however, images can be requested and made available via the online Image Exchange Portal.
Digital mammography
The mammography unit is staffed by our fully accredited radiographers. The unit offers general mammography, as well as more specialised views.
Ultrasound
A full range of diagnostic ultrasound examinations are available at the clinic. These include:
- General abdomen & pelvic examinations
- Renal system examinations (including kidney and bladder function tests)
- Thyroid, head & neck examinations
- Gynaecological examinations
- Soft tissue & musculoskeletal examinations
- Breast examinations
Specialist procedures such as ultrasound guided injections (including frozen shoulder, breast biopsies, and drainage procedures) are also available via specialist consultant radiologists.
CT
Our CT scanner is equipped with two X-ray producing tubes, making it one of the fastest CT scanners available. It can capture rapid 2D scans of all areas of the body, with scan widths as little as 0.6mm, allowing for minimised discomfort to our patients due to short scanning times.
The SOMANTOM Dual Drive Source CT scanner also produces detailed 3D images of the entire body including the organs, bone, and blood vessels. The dual source technology gives visualisation of the whole heart and coronary arteries within one single heartbeat.
Other techniques such as virtual colonoscopy and angiography for the neck, brain, renal, and peripheral vessels can also be carried out. We also offer procedures that can aid stroke assessment.
The National Institute for Health and Care Excellences (NICE) recommends cardiac CT as the first-line investigation for all patients presenting with chest pain due to suspected coronary artery disease. Both CT coronary artery angiography and calcium scoring are available in clinic.
MRI
MRI scanning is an invaluable tool used to detect and monitor many diseases.
Using a combination of strong magnetic fields and radio waves, it produces detailed images of all areas of the body. The procedure is generally safe and can be used on most age groups.
Our top of the range MAGNETOM Sola 1.5T MRI scanner is equipped with a full range of dedicated coils and software packages. The coil arrangements allow us to carry out examinations of all areas of the body including:
- Joints
- Heart & cardiac perfusion
- Breast
- Small bowel
- Brain
- Abdomen
- Pelvis
- Angiography (including brain, carotid, peripheral, and cardiac)
