Colorectal surgery is a field of medicine that deals with repairing the damage caused by disorders in the intestines, colon, rectum and anus. It can also be required in cases of obstruction, injury or tissue damage, or when blockages are preventing the normal elimination of faeces.
The gastrointestinal tract comprises the system of tubes that transport food from the mouth and discharge waste from the anus.
