Our dedicated Consultant Plastic Surgeons have excellent reputations and are medical specialists with many years of experience in cosmetic surgery. They are highly qualified, and many have fellowships and specialist training in areas such as breast surgery and skin cancer.

You’ll be well looked after and cared for at The Kings Park Hospital, from the reception team who will greet you with a smile to all the other specialists you meet, including your anaesthetist, pre-op nurse and theatre team.

Plastic surgery is a broad speciality concerned with surgery that reconstructs or reshapes areas of the body and comes from the Greek word to mould. Cosmetic surgery is a branch of plastic surgery and refers to surgery done for cosmetic reasons instead of those medically required.

At The Kings Park Hospital, we focus mainly on soft tissue cosmetic surgery for over 18s. It could be to change the shape or size of your natural assets, such as breast reduction or breast augmentation/enlargement (commonly known as a boob job), or to restore or correct changes relating to age, such as droopy eyelids.

The main cosmetic surgery treatments at The Kings Park Hospital are:

  • Breast reduction
  • Breast enlargement (augmentation)
  • Breast uplift to improve shape (mastopexy)
  • Fat removal (liposuction)
  • Tummy tuck (abdominoplasty)
  • Nose job (rhinoplasty)
  • Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty)
  • Ear pinning (pinnaplasty)
  • Facelift (rhytidectomy)
  • Neck lift (platysmaplasty)
  • Arm lift (brachioplasty)
  • Thigh lift (thighplasty)
  • Brow lift (browplasty)
  • Body contouring
  • Reduction of inner labia (labiaplasty)
  • Skin cancer (removing benign and malignant skin lesions like moles and cysts)

Everyone at The Kings Park will answer your questions sympathetically and knowledgeably and help you achieve the look you want.

We give patients realistic expectations of what they can achieve with cosmetic surgery. Sometimes it may not be the best route for you. Your consultant will discuss every option at your consultation. If they think you’re not ready for surgery or if it is incompatible physically, they may refer you to a psychologist.

Most patients self-refer and book themselves in for treatment, which can be done online or by giving us a call, but we also receive skin cancer referrals from GPs and dermatologists.

Your consultant will give you all the time you need to talk about what you are looking to achieve at your initial consultation. They will establish your physical problems and suggest the best treatment options. You’ll leave with a full explanation of the appropriate surgery, the risks and benefits and details on the next steps should you wish to proceed with treatment.

If your consultant has concerns about potential skin cancer, they can remove it and then take tissue samples (a biopsy) to get a confirmed diagnosis.

For cosmetic procedures, we would give you the time you need to think about everything we’ve told you before you decide to proceed with the treatment options the consultant has provided.

Most skin cancers can be removed under local anaesthetic (pain medicine) very quickly on the day. We’ll do all we can to make you comfortable. Nursing staff will be in the room to give you confidence and help ease any anxieties. Once the anaesthetic sets in, it is usually a quick procedure lasting 20-30 minutes.

More complex cosmetic surgery is done under general anaesthetic in our theatre department. We will give you the contact details of our Patient Liaison Officers, who can provide you with pricing information, answer any further queries you may have, and help you get booked in for your procedure.

You will have a pre-operative assessment before your procedure to make sure you’re well and to check that you’re not pregnant, if appropriate. One of our professional and caring pre-op nurses will carry out the assessment.

An anaesthetist will give you a general anaesthetic, and the theatre team will make you comfortable. After surgery, you’ll go to the recovery room for half an hour before going back to your room.

Many cosmetic surgery procedures are done on a day-case basis, meaning you can go home later that day. For those that require you to stay overnight, you’ll have a comfortable private room with an en-suite bathroom, TV and WiFi.

Our Consultant Plastic Surgeons see most patients within a week, and if a lesion (mole or cyst) is cancerous, treatment can be arranged that day or within a few days. We can often book cosmetic surgery within a few weeks.

Getting a speedy diagnosis and a treatment plan to meet your needs will give you peace of mind, as well as a clear idea of the practicalities involved and how treatment may affect your life.

You can speak to a member of our nursing team and your consultant throughout your treatment at The Kings Park Hospital. We want you to be comfortable, confident in your care and ensure that you have all the information you need to make an informed decision.
