Brent Community Ophthalmology (BCOS) is a community service set up to treat common eye problems. It is run by a specialist team with a consultant Ophthalmologist (an eye specialist) as the lead clinician.

The service is entirely part of the NHS and only sees NHS patients.

If you would like to be referred to this service, speak to your NHS GP. If your surgery is within Brent, your GP can refer you directly to our clinic if you need specialist help with your eye problems.

You can find our clinics at two locations: Sudbury Primary Care Centre and Willesden Centre for Health & Care. Our opening hours are:

  • Monday to Friday 8.30am - 8.30pm
  • Saturday 8.30am - 4.30pm

What is Circle Health Group?

Circle Health Group is the UK's largest private hospital group, offering private healthcare across the UK.

Circle Health Group also provides services via the NHS, including the Brent Community Ophthalmology service.

BCOS is a wholly NHS service, with no private element to it. You will never be charged for attending BCOS. It works like any other NHS healthcare service you have used in the past and it does not affect your position as an NHS patient in any way.

  2. Your GP refers you into the service
  3. Receive your appointment letter
  4. Have appointment with nurse and consultant
  5. If you need a follow-up appointment, this can be booked directly through BCOS
  6. If you need an onward referral, you choose the hospital and we arrange the appointment for you
  7. On discharge, we send you on with helpful advice about eye problem management, and we send a discharge letter direct to your GP

  • There are two sites for the service in the north and south of Brent
  • Routine appointments will be within four weeks
