Mr Mahmood graduated from the University of Punjab in 1995 and 6 years later became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland. He worked extensively in cardiothoracic surgery and was trained in the UK. He started his consultant post in the NHS in 2014.

Mr Mahmood is an experienced Consultant Adult Cardiac Surgeon with a demonstrated history of working in the hospital and healthcare industry. He is skilled in all aspects of adult cardiac surgery, and he is a strong healthcare services professional with a FRCS focused in cardiothoracic surgery from Royal college of Surgeons in Glasgow.

Mr Mahmood's clinical practice includes a challenging high-risk mix of major valvular and coronary artery surgery, whilst his surgical results show he has a higher survival rate than expected by national standards.
