Dr Lim is a Consultant Gastroenterologist and endoscopist at The Duchy Hospital in Harrogate, with a broad-based practice covering the full spectrum of gastrointestinal conditions.

He undertook Gastroenterology training at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, followed by a year-long Endoscopy fellowship at the same hospital. During this time his work was published in leading endoscopy journals, covering Barrett's oesophagus, gastric cancer, and colonoscopy. He retains an interest in all aspects of Gastroenterology and attends major UK (BSG) and European meeting (UEGW) to stay up to date. He has received prizes for abstracts submitted at national meetings, and was awarded a travelling grant to attend the UEGW to present his work. He has also undertaken peer review and academic editorial work.

He joined the Specialist Register in 2014 and worked as a Locum Consultant in Durham before returning home to Malaysia in 2017 under the Returning Expert Programme. He then spent two years as a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at Gleneagles Hospital, managing all aspects of Gastroenterology and Hepatology. During this time he introduced several service improvement such as a video capsule enteroscopy, high-resolution manometry and impedance, and nasoendoscopy.

In 2019, he returned to the UK and was appointed to a substantive post at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust. He now works as a general gastroenterologist with a broad range of interests, holding NHS clinics in Harrogate and Ripon alongside his private practice at the Duchy Hospital. In 2020, he was appointed Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Leeds, where he teaches medical students, and in 2022 he achieved Bowel Cancer Screening Accreditation. Jointly with his colleague, the department expanded with development of the Large Polyp Multidisciplinary Team and the Nutrition Multidisciplinary Team of which he remains an active member in both.

Dr Lim sees patients across the full spectrum of gastrointestinal symptoms — from reflux and swallowing difficulties to malnutrition, change in bowel habit, diarrhoea, and rectal bleeding. While his interest spans all GI symptoms, he has also developed specialist expertise in areas such as bowel cancer screening. He diagnoses patients with symptoms of colon, stomach, and oesophageal cancer, and manages a cohort of patients with inflammatory bowel disease, gastro-oesophageal reflux disease, coeliac disease, eosinophilic oesophagitis, and irritable bowel syndrome, alongside a dedicated bowel cancer screening practice.

Outside of work, Dr Lim is married to his wife, a GP, and they have four children.
