Dr. Yasser El-Sherif is a distinguished, UK-trained Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist with over 20 years of experience in diagnosing and treating a wide range of gastrointestinal and liver conditions. He offers expert assessment and management for common concerns such as abdominal pain, indigestion, acid reflux, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), bloating, constipation, and diarrhoea, as well as liver-related problems including abnormal liver blood tests, fatty liver disease, alcohol-related liver disease, viral hepatitis, and cirrhosis. Dr. El-Sherif is highly experienced in gastroscopy and colonoscopy, delivering advanced, minimally invasive investigations with a strong focus on comfort and reassurance. He completed his specialist training through the South London Deanery National Training Programme, gaining extensive experience at some of the UK’s most prestigious hospitals, including King’s College Hospital, Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, and Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. During his time at Imperial College London, Dr. El-Sherif was awarded an MD research degree in liver disease within the internationally recognised Liver Unit, contributing to advances in hepatology research.

Following completion of his training, Dr. El-Sherif was appointed Senior Fellow in Advanced Endoscopy at King’s College Hospital, where he developed advanced expertise in complex endoscopic procedures, particularly in pancreatic and biliary disease. He subsequently held Consultant appointments at King’s College Hospital Trust before relocating to Sheffield, where he continues to practise as a Consultant Gastroenterologist and Endoscopist at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.

As a JAG-accredited endoscopist, Dr. El-Sherif performs a comprehensive range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including advanced gastroscopy, colonoscopy, and complex ERCP. His expertise also includes non-invasive liver fibrosis assessment, as well as the management of gallbladder, pancreatic disorders and sphincter of Oddi dysfunction.

Alongside his clinical practice, Dr. El-Sherif maintains a strong academic and research profile. He has presented at national and international conferences and published extensively in leading peer-reviewed medical journals. His ongoing commitment to education and research ensures that his patients benefit from the latest evidence-based care and innovation.
