Mr Will Taylor is a consultant Urological Surgeon specialising in general core urology and stone surgery (Endourology). He completed his medical degree in 2009 from the University of Birmingham. He went on to complete his foundation and core surgical training in the West Midlands Deanery. He then moved to Edinburgh for more Urological training in stone and cancer surgery before returning to the West Midlands to complete his higher surgical training in 2019. He lives in Worcestershire but continues to work in Wolverhampton for the NHS since his appointment in 2019.
Will is a high volume stone surgeon performing regular ureteroscopy for renal and ureteric stones. He also performs Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy (PCNL) as well as extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy (ESWL).
Mr Taylor also has interest in core and general urology. This includes prostate and bladder cancer diagnostics, PSA testing, blood in the urine, management of benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) and associated lower urinary tract symptoms, erectile dysfunction, recurrent urinary tract infection, foreskin problems, management of testicular and scrotal pathology.
Will enjoys medical education, completing a postgraduate diploma in medical education from the University of Birmingham in 2018. He was the postgraduate education lead at New Cross Wolverhampton for 3 years before taking on a senior leadership role. He has a passion for developing the next generation of endourologists. He is the current clinical lead for Urology in Wolverhampton and Walsall. He has played a key role in combining the services across the two hospitals. He is continuing to work hard to set up strategies to enable the NHS to manage the referral to treatment targets. Prior to taking on the clinical Lead role he spent time combining the stone services across Walsall and Wolverhampton, ensuring that patients from both areas had access to high quality complex endourological care. He is an active member of the Black country ICS stone group.
