Mr Patel obtained his medical degree from Imperial College London in 2003. He underwent his surgical training at a number of specialist breast units in London hospitals including The Royal Marsden, Chelsea and Westminster NHS Trust and Imperial College. His surgical training was completed during his National Awarded Oncoplastic fellowship in the Breast and Plastic Surgery Department at Royal Free Hospital. These National Training Interface Group Fellowships are the Gold Standard in Breast Reconstruction Training and awarded to only a few select individuals. He also is the first person globally to have completed Surgical Education Research in the Metaverse through the award of a PhD in Virtual Reality Surgical Simulation at Imperial College London in 2015. This has resulted in several peer review publications and multiple awards including from the American based Association of Surgical Education and Medicine Meets Virtual Reality.
His enthusiasm for education has ensured he has been a member of the teaching faculty for both undergraduate (Bsc) and postgraduate (Msc) Imperial College degrees as well as being the Royal College of Surgeons appointed Surgical Tutor for the Hillingdon Hospital NHS Trust. His passion for technology, derived from his research, ensures Mr Patel incorporates the latest innovations and technologies into his surgical practice.
