Mr Vish Kumar is a highly experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Surgeon, with his main private practice based at Droitwich Spa Hospital.
He was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Surgeon at Wye Valley NHS Trust in 2021. Prior to this, he held fixed-term Consultant posts at Cambridge University Hospitals and Buckinghamshire NHS Trust from August 2017, further strengthening his experience across leading NHS centres.
He is fellowship-trained in Foot & Ankle Reconstruction, with advanced specialist expertise across the full spectrum of foot and ankle surgery. His clinical practice includes the diagnosis and management of complex foot and ankle conditions, elective and trauma surgery, and reconstructive procedures aimed at improving mobility, function, and quality of life.
Alongside his clinical practice, he is actively involved in medical governance and professional development. He is a certified Trust Appraiser of Consultants and Doctors for Revalidation at Wye Valley NHS Trust, supporting high standards of clinical practice and ongoing professional development. He also holds a key leadership role as GIRFT Lead for Outpatients Transformation, contributing to national initiatives to improve efficiency, patient pathways, and service delivery in orthopaedic care.
He has a strong track record of involvement in National Audits and Quality Improvement (QI) projects, including NHS England-commissioned external audits, demonstrating his commitment to evidence-based practice, continuous improvement, and high-quality patient outcomes.
He has a keen interest in medical education and surgical training. He is a GMC-recognised Named Clinical Supervisor (nCS) for Higher Orthopaedic Surgical Training and a faculty member for the Cambridge FRCS Orthopaedic Basic Science Revision Course. He is also an acknowledged reviewer for The Bone and Joint Journal (BJJ).
He has undertaken research in orthopaedics in both the UK and Australia and has published as first author in respected PubMed-indexed orthopaedic journals. He remains actively engaged with the latest evidence-based advances and modern surgical techniques to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
