About Mr Vish Kumar
Personal Profile
Mr Vish Kumar is a highly experienced Consultant Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeon. His main private practice is based at Droitwich Spa Hospital.
He was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Surgeon at Wye Valley NHS Trust in 2021. Prior to this, he held Consultant posts at Cambridge University Hospitals and Buckinghamshire NHS Trust from 2017, gaining experience across leading NHS centres.
He is fellowship-trained in Foot and Ankle Reconstruction, with advanced expertise in all aspects of foot and ankle surgery. His clinical practice includes the diagnosis and management of both routine and complex foot and ankle conditions, as well as elective and trauma surgery. He also performs reconstructive procedures aimed at improving mobility, function, and quality of life.
Alongside his clinical work, Mr Kumar has a strong interest in healthcare governance and service improvement. He is a certified Trust Appraiser for Consultants and Doctors for Revalidation at Wye Valley NHS Trust, helping to maintain high professional and clinical standards.
He also serves as GIRFT (Getting It Right First Time) Lead for Outpatients Transformation. In this role, he contributes to national improvement programmes focused on improving patient pathways, reducing variation in care, and enhancing efficiency in orthopaedic services.
Mr Kumar has a strong track record in national audits and quality improvement projects, including NHS England-commissioned external audits. This reflects his commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous improvement in patient care.
He is also actively involved in medical education and surgical training. He is a GMC-recognised Named Clinical Supervisor for higher orthopaedic trainees and a faculty member on the Cambridge FRCS Orthopaedic Basic Science Revision Course. He also contributes as a reviewer for The Bone and Joint Journal.
He has undertaken orthopaedic research in both the UK and Australia and has published as first author in peer-reviewed orthopaedic journals. He remains actively engaged in the latest evidence-based developments and modern surgical techniques.
