Mr Vipin Mehta is Director of Transplantation and Consultant in cardiac surgery, aortic surgery and heart & lung transplantation, based at Wythenshawe Hospital at Manchester University NHS Foundation trust. He is Honorary Senior Lecturer at University of Manchester.

Mr Vipin Mehta is an experienced cardiac surgeon who performs wide range of cardiac surgeries and specialises in coronary bypass surgery (CABG), aortic valve replacement (AVR), aorta aneurysm surgeries including aortic root replacement, ascending aorta replacement, hemiarch and arch replacement for aneurysms and acute dissections. He conducts Thoracic Aneurysm Surveillance Clinic (TASC) for aortic aneurysm patients.

He is Director of Transplantation and expert in operations on weak hearts using advanced mechanical support and performs heart failure surgery including heart transplantation, lung transplantation, Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) implants for end stage heart failure.

He teaches regularly at SCTS University, CALS (Cardiac Advanced Life Support) Course, and departmental teaching sessions for junior doctors, nurses and Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANP). He also teaches and supervises Manchester university medical school Year 5 students for career placements and QEPEP projects. He is mentor, educational and clinical supervisor for ST1-ST8 (middle grade) trainee doctors, MTI scheme trainee doctors and clinical fellows.
