About Dr Vellore Karthikeyan
V J Karthikeyan Personal Profile
Dr Karthikeyan is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester. He works at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (Manchester Heart Centre, Manchester Royal Infirmary & North-West Cardiac Centre, Wythenshawe Hospital) and practices at The Alexandra Hospital and Circle Cheshire Clinic.
As a Consultant Cardiologist, he has been treating patients with a wide spectrum of cardiovascular diseases and has a special interest in treating coronary artery disease and hypertension.
He sees patients with chest pains, breathlessness, high blood pressures. He is a high volume operator for coronary angiograms and angioplasties and treats patients with high blood pressures that are difficult to control with renal denervation therapy. He is the Associate Lead for Hypertension, for the Greater Manchester & East Cheshire Strategic Clinical Network.
On completion of his general medical training and higher research degree in Cardiovascular Medicine in the West Midlands, he embarked on a structured training programme in Cardiology in the Mersey Deanery, including high intensity sub-specialty training in Percutaneous Coronary Intervention at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital.
He keeps himself up to date with scientific progress and evidence-based practice in cardiology, and has developed valuable personal attributes including leadership and multi-disciplinary partnership, which enable him to provide high quality, effective and efficient patient-centred care.
