About Vaibhav Modgil

Personal Profile

Professor Vaibhav Modgil is a Consultant Urological Surgeon and Andrologist at The Manchester Andrology Centre, Manchester Royal Infirmary, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. He joined the North West of England's regional centre for male sexual and reproductive health (Andrology) in 2019. He is one of the highest volume penile prosthesis and Peyronie's disease surgeons in the UK.

He is also part of the Reproductive Medicine Team at St Marys Hospital, as a highly specialised male factor infertility surgeon.

Professor Modgil undertook his undergraduate degree in Southampton, and went on to complete his surgical training in Manchester and Birmingham. During his training, he also gained, with merit, a masters degree in Leadership for Health Service improvement at The University of Birmingham. He went on to undertake an international fellowship in Western Australia (Perth) at one of the largest tertiary teaching hospitals in the country, where he was nominated for trainee of the year. On returning to the UK, he completed a further 1 year specialist fellowship in Andrology at the internationally-renowned University College London Hospitals Institute of Andrology. He has also completed specialist training in Erectile Dysfunction Surgery in one of the USA’s highest volume penile surgery centres.

He provides a high-volume tertiary referral service for complex andrological conditions, such as erectile dysfunction (including penile prosthesis surgery), Peyronie’s disease, ejaculatory problems, and infertility.

He is an active researcher, focusing his efforts on men’s health issues; his work has, and continues to result in numerous publications. He sits on several professional committees, including The International Society of Sexual Medicine young researchers and clinicians committee, The European Association of Urology Sexual and Reproductive Health Guidelines panel, and the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) Executive Committee for Andrology and Genito-Urethral Surgery.

Professor Modgil is passionate about training and education. He is a questions writer for the Intercollegiate fellowship exam in Urology (UK), and an Andrology Section Editor for the Journal of Clinical Urology. He also serves on The Urology Foundation (TUF) scientific committee. He was recently appointed as the UK Andrology Research Associate Surgical Speciality Lead for The Royal College of Surgeons (England) and British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS). He continues in his role as the Social and Digital Media Lead for the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) too.

Outside of work, he is a keen cyclist and an avid follower of his beloved Arsenal FC.
