Mr Faridi is a Consultant Ophthalmologist at Dorset County Hospital and The Winterbourne Hospital, at Dorchester. He is a highly experienced Ophthalmologist with varied clinical experience and a specialist interest in cataract surgery and glaucoma. He qualified from Khyber Medical College, University of Peshawar, and had had his Post-graduate qualifications from the Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh and Royal College of Ophthalmologists London.

Mr Faridi had his initial ophthalmic training in Pakistan as a trainee registrar at a tertiary care centre, Post-graduate Medical Institute, Lady Reading Hospital. He had further training in the United Kingdom, working in various units. He rotated in various ophthalmic subspecialties and gained vast experience in different fields of ophthalmology.   He completed his Glaucoma fellowship from a high-profile glaucoma unit of the southwest region at West of England Eye Unit, Exeter. In the same unit, he also worked as a locum glaucoma consultant, helping him achieve a high degree of expertise in the field.

In addition to his clinical responsibilities as a consultant ophthalmologist, he has had roles as a clinical lead, clinical appraiser, and clinical governance lead. He regularly self-audits his clinical practice to ensure he remains compliant with national benchmark standards. Throughout his career, he has also been involved in research and clinical audits and has projects published in peer-reviewed journals. He was a principal investigator of an independent head to head Prostaglandin eye drops clinical trial. He regularly attends international as well as national meetings and conferences to remain updated with the current practice of Ophthalmology.

  • Laser therapy for glaucoma: Selective and Argon laser trabeculoplasty, Iridotomy, Iridoplasty, transcleral cyclodiode, Endo-cyclodiode laser photocoagulation.
  • Surgical management of glaucoma: Trabeculectomy with the use of anti-metabolites (Mitomycin C), combined tabeculectomy and cataract surgery.
  • Cataract surgery: Modern Phaco-emulsification with lens implant, high volume cataract surgery and cataract surgery in complex eyes with glaucoma
  • Management of various general ophthalmic conditions, various Oculoplastic or eyelid procedures and medical retinal problems.
  • Complex glaucoma surgery: Glaucoma tube implant with or without cataract surgery.
  • Medical management of glaucoma
