The majority of his clinical practice involves injections and surgery for cervical and lumbar disc pathology, and injections for back and neck pain. Mr Bateman’s keen interest in spine care began when studied medicine and surgery at Imperial College School of Medicine. He was given the opportunity to complete an intercalated Bachelor of Science degree where he was also able to investigate and publish research on spinal kinematics during rowing with the help of the British Rowing team. Mr Bateman completed basic surgical training in London and then went on to higher surgical training in Trama and Orthopaedics on the South East Thames training rotation. During this time he also completed a Diploma in Sports and Exercise Medicine and was appointment Chief Medical Officer for Brands Hatch Racing Circuit. He has provided medical services at the World Rowing Championships, London 2012 Oympic Games and numerous national and international motorsport events including Formula 1.

Having completed higher surgical training in Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery with a focus on spine surgery Mr Bateman then successfully completed a one year advanced spine surgery fellowship at Frimley Park Hospital in the UK. He then travelled to Canada for a year with his family to undertake a further complex spine surgery fellowship at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre offered through the University of Toronto. During that time he was awarded the prestigious Soli Lam Spine Fellowship from the British Orthopaedic Association and a Zimmer International Fellowship. He completed several research publications and was awarded several prizes for his work. This intensive training equipped him with the knowledge and hands-on experience necessary to navigate the intricacies of spinal conditions.
