Personal Profile

Dr Tang Shim is a Consultant Dermatologist at Meriden Hospital in Coventry. He sees patients aged 16+ and manages the full range of adult dermatological conditions.

He has specialist expertise in inflammatory skin disease, male genital dermatology, eczema, patch testing, allergic contact dermatitis, and occupational dermatology.

Dr Shim was educated at Queen’s University Belfast and completed his general medical training in Belfast, followed by specialist dermatology training in the West Midlands. He was awarded a Sir John Fisher Foundation Research Fellowship to study male genital skin disease at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and University College London Hospitals (2011–2013), with his research leading to an MD (Res) awarded by Imperial College London in 2017.

He has published widely in medical literature and regularly lectures on national dermatology courses. In addition, he is a clinical personal tutor and Honorary Clinical Lecturer at Warwick Medical School, University of Warwick, and a topic expert member of the NICE committee for managing common infections.
