Personal Profile

Dr. Wig trained at the East Midlands,South Yorkshire and Humberand the North West deaneries from 2007-2012.She was appointed as a consultant rheumatologist in 2013 and  is now clinical lead  of the rheumatology department at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust and visiting professor at the University of Greater Manchester. She is also the departmental audit lead and  GIRFT lead.

She has a special interest in early and resistant to treat inflammatory arthritides and musculoskeletal ultrasound. She has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals to her credit and is a reviewer for the prestigious ‘Rheumatology’ journal. She is a supervisor for rheumatology trainees, foundation trainees and GP trainees. She also has a special interest in leading and participating in audits and quality improvement projects that have made a significant impact on improving patient care locally and regionally. 

She is a highly skilled rheumatologist who has a thorough and holistic approach to patient care. She provides individualised care based on each patient’s specific needs. She believes in clear and open communication with the patients and works closely with them to provide the best possible care.
