Mr. Sunil Dixit Khandavilli graduated dentistry from Dharwad, India in 1993. Where he completed a senior residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) and studied a 3-year master’s degree in the field. He was then appointed to the role of senior lecturer where he was responsible for the teaching and training of undergraduate and post graduate students in his institute.
He moved to UK to obtain further training and worked across OMFS units in Poole, Shrewsbury, and North Wales prior to obtaining dual qualification by completing his Doctor of Medicine (MD). He completed basic surgical training (MRCS) in North Wales and higher surgical training in OMFS in the West Midlands. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (FRCSEd) and a substantive OMFS consultant at the Manchester Royal Infirmary where he was appointed in 2018.
Mr. Khandavilli provides s a wide ranging and varied surgical practice. He is the OMFS lead for the multidisciplinary care for facial injuries associated with neurosurgical trauma in the Greater Manchester region, operating across Manchester and Salford in this role. His other areas of special interest include the management of facial trauma, dentofacial deformity, temporomandibular joint disorder, skin cancer and the breadth of oral surgery.
Mr. Khandavilli maintains a keen academic interest in the specialty and in training the next generation of surgeons. His research is published in peer reviewed journals and has been presented at national and international level. He is actively engaged in undergraduate and postgraduate education, with current roles including medical school examiner, lead educational supervisor and panel member during dental/medical core training recruitment and dental foundation ARCP.
