About Mr Subu Subramonian

Personal Profile

Mr Subramonian undertook his basic Urological training and research in West Yorkshire, followed by Higher Surgical training in London. He underwent special training in endoscopic surgery for stone disease and laparoscopic surgery at King's College, London and St. George's Hospital. He also spent some time in the Cleveland clinic and John Hopkin's Hospital in America on a travelling scholarship from the British Urological Foundation. Here he learnt minimally invasive surgical skills before joining University Hospital Birmingham as Consultant Urological Surgeon.   The Queen Elizabeth Hospital serves as referral centre for patients with complex kidney problems referred from other centres in the region. Mr Subramonian gives advice and treatment for patients with complex kidney stone disease referred from all the hospitals in the West Midlands region and carries out complex endoscopic operations for these patients. 

In addition to general urology, Mr Subramonian has a particular interest in keyhole surgery to remove kidney stones, lithotripsy (shockwave treatment to break kidney stones), laparoscopic nephrectomy (removal of kidney through keyhole), cystoscopy (flexible & rigid), surgery for benign scrotal lumps, TURP, urethrotomy, vasectomy (bilateral), vasectomy reversal and erectile dysfunction.

Clinical Interests

My special interests are surgery for Kidney stones and Keyhole (laparoscopic) surgery. I also specialise in treating disorders of Men's Health such erectile dysfunction, prostate disease and surgical procedures in male genitalia such as vasectomy, vasectomy reversal, circumcision and Nesbitt's operation for Peyronie's disease.
