About Mr Stephen Prescott
Personal Profile
Mr Stephen Prescott is a Consultant Urologist at The Duchy Hospital in Harrogate, specialising in urological oncology and the diagnosis and treatment of cancers affecting the urinary system, including prostate and bladder cancer. He also provides assessment and treatment for a broad range of general urological conditions.
Mr Prescott qualified from the University of Manchester in 1981 with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Science. He began his career in Manchester, completing three years of junior posts at teaching hospitals before continuing his surgical training in Edinburgh. During this period, he undertook a two-year Research Fellowship with the Imperial Cancer Research Fund (ICRF), now Cancer Research UK.
In 1992, Mr Prescott completed a Visiting Clinician Scientist Fellowship at Toronto General Hospital in Canada. The following year, he was appointed Senior Lecturer at the University of Edinburgh and Honorary Consultant in Urology and Renal Transplantation at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh.
In 1995, he moved to Leeds, taking up a Consultant Urologist position at Leeds Teaching Hospitals and an honorary senior lecturing role at the University of Leeds. Throughout his career, Mr Prescott has held several significant professional and leadership positions, including Chair of the Yorkshire Cancer Network Urology Group, membership of the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS) Section of Oncology Committee, and Clinical Lead for Urology at Leeds Teaching Hospitals.
Mr Prescott has also contributed to medical research and education, with approximately 60 publications, primarily focused on urology.
